Introduce yourself.

わたし　は　〜　です。/ Watashi wa 〜 desu.

わたし　は　はなこ　です。/ Watashi wa Hanako desu.
I am Hanako.

ぼく　は　ボブ　です。/ Boku wa Bobu desu.
I am Bob.


The way we say "I" or "me" can change depending on gender or the situations.

わたし / watashi (for men, women)
I or me

わたくし / watakushi (for men and women, more polite)
I or me

ぼく / boku (for mainly men, casual)
I or me

おれ / ore (for mainly men, casual)
I or me


"は(pronounced "wa")" marks subjects or topics of sentences, frequently skipped in conversations.

わたし　(は)　はなこ　です。/ Watashi (wa) Hanako desu.
I am Hanako.

ぼく　(は)　ボブ　です。/ Boku (wa) Bobu desu.
I am Bob.
